We’re finally climbing out of the slump we’ve been in for a few months. Spring was fabulous. Then, all of a sudden, things came to a screeching halt. (Well, not really. I’m exaggerating.) But sales have been slow for quite some time, so we’re happy to welcome back the customers!
Yes, sales have been great lately, but I just peeked at our dashboard and noticed that we’ve lost our Top-Rated Seller (TRS) status. Dang! Too many low “item as described” DSRs. (That’s one of the drawbacks of having other people list your products.) Oh well. That’s how it goes. I consider it a growing pain. We’re just going to have to work smarter.
I’m busy, busy, busy, so I’ve got to go. But before I do, I wanted to make sure you knew about the following educational opportunities:
1. Don’t miss Suzanne Wells’ latest episode of You Sold What on eBay? This time, Suzanne is talkin’ trash!
2. After you listen to the podcast, take a peek at the latest episode of Shark Tank!
3. And finally, don’t miss Mr. Customer Service on the Ask Janelle show. Tim talks all about his latest finds!
Have a great night!
Definitely source my own items!
Yard sales this weekend were insane! Tons of Christmas decorations, name brand clothing, gifts, appliances….we even purchased a gas fireplace for the one-bedroom we’re remodeling. That saved us about $1,100! (No joke!) To top it off, I attended a yard sale on Veteran’s Day. It was a one-day sale with a wide variety of quality items. The lady hosting the sale must have had the day off. I never see Monday sales!
Some eBay news for ya….
1. Suzanne Wells just posted a story about a woman she’s coaching who set up a clothing boutique in her basement. I would love to have a basement! Click here to read.
2. Don’t miss the replay of the most recent class offered by Topratedsellerwebinars. It’s all about taking better photographs!!
3. I was listening to eBay Radio, and I heard some important news about the listing tool Blackthorne. Blackthorne will be retired on September 30, 2014. If you’re currently using it to list items, you will want to find a new program.
That’s it for now! Our sales are looking up! How are sales in your neck of the woods?
Weather has been great here. (Maybe I shouldn't have said that...LOL)
Last week, Oprah Winfrey decided to have a yard sale! Well, kind of. Check it out!
A long, long time ago, I scheduled an appointment with an eBay rep who helped me improve my store! Well, eBay is offering these appointments again! Just saw someone on Facebook post some info about this topic. If you are a PowerSeller, store owner, or Top-rated Seller, click here to sign up!
I also wanted to remind people to be on the lookout for abalone shells. Found this shell in the Danni App Facebook group. (And as far as I can tell, it is legal to sell abalone shells. Some people have asked about this.) This particular shell sold for…

Finally, don’t miss eBay Radio today at 11 AM PST. If you can’t listen to it live, check out the archives later tonight.
Hi, hey thanks for letting people know about Outreach. It is a great way to have someone else look at you listings with a different set of eyes and help tweek any area that maybe you just hadn't seen. They use experienced sellers who are active sellers and get exclusive training to help sellers. Great investment of your time. Funny thing but I just found two very large red abalone shells in my back yard a couple weeks ago. I brought them in and cleaned them up. Thought about using them for some of my jewelry making, till I realize there is a specialized method to doing that.
Found this one on Facebook! Jason T. Smith of Thrifting With the Boys posted a picture of a lovely cassette holder (remember those?) he recently sold for $45 with free economy shipping. I’ve seen Napa products like this at yard sales, but I’ve never picked them up! Here’s the link.
Oh man. I just put one if those out to the curb with a free sign after begging hubby to get rid of it for years. Oh well live and learn. Thank you for sharing.
Have you started listing those ugly Christmas sweaters? Check out this beauty we currently have for sale! (If I remember correctly, it has puffy paint accents.) Click here to see the completed listings for the keywords “ugly Christmas sweater.”
FYI: Don’t miss the holiday selling workshop being offered by eBay this Thursday. Click here to register!
Hey, check it out! A while back, I went to a yard sale featuring golf items. It was the last day of the sale, and I purchased a huge lot of old golf balls for $10. The pile was huge! They were a bit dirty, so I tried to wash them. Well, the dirt didn’t come off.
I decided to divide the golf balls into piles that would fit into medium flat rate boxes. I’ve only listed one box so far, and that box sold pretty quickly. It sold for….
NO WAY! I see these at garage sales all the time - I bet I won't see them from now on though LOL
Listen while you work! Listen while you work!
1. Listen to Danni Ackerman talk about buying at auctions on the Ask Janelle show here.
2. Do you love Shark Tank? Don’t miss this Shark Tank podcast. Here’s one of my favorite episodes featuring the gal from “Send a Ball,” a company that sends greeting balls through the mail! (Yes, greeting balls.)
eBay Radio is on at 11 PST! And at 1:15, Suzanne Wells will be talking about her new site, Unite, which offers classes designed to help eBay sellers be more successful. I’m actually planning on taking a few of those classes myself! Suzanne also has a new blog. Check it out here!
Speaking of classes…. If you’re interested in learning all about how to hire employees for your eBay business, don’t miss my class this coming up Friday morning. You’ll learn all about the paperwork required to hire employees and how to train them so that they help you increase profits. I’m making more than double what I made when I was doing everything myself (and I’m now back at work full time!) Click here to check it out!
I wanted to share another one of our finds from this weekend! Johnny found this North Face fleece for 50 cents. I decided to wash it since it had a little paint on the sleeve and looked like it needed some sprucing up. The paint didn’t come out, but it smelled really good! The next morning, I listed it. It sold in less than a day for………
Not bad! Everyone loves North Face gear, and this fleece is the epitome of a “green” product. In fact, Johnny (the greenest person on the planet) would have kept it, but he already has two (both from yard sales)!
Maybe next year!
We found a lot of neat stuff this weekend! The first six yard sales were absolutely terrible, but things definitely got better. Remember: If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again! (You have to go to a lot of yard sales if you want to find a lot of good stuff!)
Here’s something we found at an estate sale. It’s a cool Fenton bowl. I purchased it for $7! I sent a text to Danni Ackerman, and she informed me that I had scored. She recommended I list the bowl at auction with a starting price of $99.99. I don’t have much competition, so it should sell eventually. Check it out:
It’s even more beautiful in person! I love it!
At that same yard sale, we purchased a box of wigs and an itty bitty vintage compact. This lady had some cool items. Really cool. Her prices were all over the map. It was strange.
Gotta go now! Sales have really been picking up (thank goodness), so I’ve got some work to do!
It's really cool. If I were in the business of decorating my house, I'd keep it!
